Classes

I have been an instructor for 15 years and counting, working with students in-person and online. The connections I have made with students over the years have been such a gift! Watching their skills develop over time has been truly my pleasure! Here are examples of some of the courses I offer in-person at Pencil & Wool and online through the Lyme Art Association.

Drawing Basics

Drawing Basics

Beginning with drawing in graphite, students  learn about values -dark, mid tones and lights- using ribbons to illustrate these concepts.

Drawing in Colored Pencil

Using artist grade colored pencil, students  advance to single flower drawing using careful observational skills and drawing from a live subject.

Botanical Drawing

Botanical Dissection

Teaching plant dissection brings me up close, (like with a microscope close!) to the inner workings of plants. Inspecting and drawing plant parts that closely has given me an even greater appreciation for nature and all its small miracles!

Classes at Pencil & Wool

I also teach in-person classes at my store, Pencil & Wool. Some of our class offerings include watercolor painting, rug hooking, needle felting, colored pencil...the list goes on! Check out our full list of workshops here.
